Judy Diane Girimonte was born on January 5th, 1946 in Oakland, California and died on October 5th, 2022 in Chico.
She was born to proud Italian-American parents Nick and Vincie Girimonte. Judy spent her first five years in Albany, California before the family settled in Chico in 1951, moving onto Woodland Avenue across from Bidwell Park's Sycamore field and One-Mile recreation pool.
Judy graduated from Chico High School and attended Yuba College and Chico State. Judy served on the Chico Unified School District Board, and was the Director of the Downtown Chico Business Association, before retiring from the health field in 2021. Judy had three sons, Tim Stebbins of Honolulu, Matt Kelly of El Cerrito, and Joel Kelly (Jessica) of Orinda, and two grandchildren, Mia (14) and Mitch Kelly (12).
Judy is survived by her big sister Nicolette Centeno of Walnut Creek, and her younger brothers Gene Girimonte of Santa Rosa and David Girimonte of Eureka. She was preceded in death by her brother Joseph Girimonte of Dixon.
Anyone who knew Judy knew of her love for her family, especially her grandkids, and her talent of making friends wherever she went. She loved live music and dancing with her partner Jeff Murray, cooking, travelling, and never missed her San Francisco 49ers on Sundays.
Judy loved to run, finishing several half-marathons and triathlons, and most mornings you could find her running through her favorite place, Bidwell Park. Judy was a bright light in everyone’s life who knew her, and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
