Obituary of Maxine Long

Maxine Long, of Chico, Calif., 92, passed away Friday, October 25, 2013 at the California Park Skilled Care Center. Maxine was born July 1, 1921 in Osawatomie, Kan., to Orie and Mabel Neuenschwander. Maxine graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1939. After graduation, she moved to Kansas City where she continued to live and work. After retiring, she made her home in Chico. Maxine had a great love of animals, especially dogs. She loved her Chihuahuas, and referred to them as her babies. Her family would like to thank California Park personnel for their excellent care, and Marlene Brenden for her loving care as a good friend volunteer and volunteer caregiver, ensuring her glasses were always repaired and that she always had things like a supply of her favorite hair spray. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. She is survived by her two sisters, Thelma Duncan, of Osawatomie, and Doris Kreiger, of Silverton, Ore.; her brother Kenneth and Ona Mae Neuenschwander of Osawatomie; and many nieces and nephews. Burial will be in the Osawatomie Cemetery.
