Obituary of Pearl Virginia Marshall

Pearl Virginia Marshall, 86, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2008 in Chico, with the loving support of her family. Virginia was born Dec. 14, 1921 in Brockport, NY to Pearl and Charles Donnelly. She was raised on a farm in Rochester, NY with her four brothers, Joe, Jim, Bob, and Dick. Being the only girl on the farm, she was active and athletic. She was very proud, often stating, "I never lost a race!" Virginia moved to San Francisco in 1947. She met Maurice Marshall, who would become her husband, on the first day of her arrival. Virginia and Maurice lived in San Francisco and Daly City before settling in Burlingame to raise their two children Virginia (Ginny) and Donn. Virginia and Maurice retired to Chico in 1984 and Maurice passed away a few years later. Virginia enjoyed raising miniature horses in her backyard. She was also active in a number of clubs in Chico that provided her with great friendship and support, including the Grandmothers club, CARD senior group, Widowhood group and senior crafters group. A special thanks to the staff and friends of the Enloe Cardiac Rehabilitation group for their support, care, and companionship. You brought much happiness to her life. Virginia is survived by her daughter, Ginny Marshall of San Mateo, son Donn Marshall and daughter-in-law, Carol Ann, of Chico. The joys of her last years were her grandchildren, Riley and Morey Marshall. She enjoyed attending their sporting events and visiting with the fans. A mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, June 20 at 12:00 pm at Our Divine Savior Church on Lassen Ave., Chico, CA.
