Obituary of Andrew Samuelson

A memorial service will be planned for a later date for Andrew Glenn Samuelson, 58 of Chico. Andy passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2009. He was born October 22, 1951 to Glenn and Betty Samuelson. Andy was raised in Durham and graduated from Durham High School in 1969. In 1970 he was drafted into the Army and served in Germany. Andy was a partner at the Bank Club for several years before working as a gunsmith at Speegles Gun Shop. He then worked at Llano Seco Rancho for the next 27 years as well as working for Butte County Public Works for 16 years. He retired from Butte County in 2004 and worked for Site Constructors Inc. in Hawaii for the last three years. Andy enjoyed flying remote controlled planes, hunting, shooting and spending time with his friends. He was a member of the American Legion and for the last 21 years cooked the french fries at the Durham Park for the May Day Parade. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Samuelson of Grants Pass, OR; two daughters, Simone Rivard of Chico, Sarah (Curtis) Akin of Chico; mother and step-father, Betty and Lester Samuelson of Durham; one brother, Shannon Samuelson of Chico; three step-brothers, Randy, Eddie and Clark Samuelson all of Chico; one step-sister, Vickie Payan of Chico; and many friends. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brusie Funeral Home.
