Obituary of John Cambra

John "Johnny" Cambra, 87 of Chico, passed away on March 15, 2010. Johnny was born in Chico CA on May 16, 1922 to John and Olivia Cambra. Johnny attended Chico schools, and in 1942 he was drafted into the Army where he was assigned to the 333rd Infantry Regiment. During his service to his country, Johnny received many honors and awards including the Purple Heart. He was the owner of the Del Mar Club in Chico and was a member of the Chico Auto Racing Association. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Alice Gibson and brothers, Joe, Tony and Henry "Hank" Cambra. He is survived by his sister, Betty Sigler of Chico as well as many nieces and nephews. Johnny is loved dearly and will be missed by all of his family and friends. He will be laid to rest with full military honors in the Veteran's Court of Honor at the Glen Oaks Memorial Cemetery, on Monday, March 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will immediately follow at the Eagles Lodge in Chico.
