Obituary of Ronald Giuffre

RONALD JAMES GIUFFR‚ Jan. 28, 1963 Jan. 1, 2011 Ronald James Giuffr‚, Ron to his friends, died of a sudden heart attack on New Year's Day, January 1, 2011. He is with God and his Father, James Joseph Giuffr‚, who passed peacefully on December 18, 2010. Ron was born in San Jose, CA, on January 28, 1963. He lived in San Jose for 44 years, where he attended Willow Glen High School and graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in Psychology. He spent 20 dedicated years as a caseworker for people with disabilities. He gave them his ears, his hands, his heart and his love. He was an active parishioner at St. Christopher Church in San Jose, CA for 44 years. He spent the past four years worshiping at St. James Church of Christ in Durham, CA. Ron cultivated broad friendship networks in San Jose, Durham, and Sonoma. The times he enjoyed the most were spent surrounded by good friends, family, and food. He always had an encouraging, kind word or a hug that made you feel 10 feet tall, a remarkable gift for somebody who celebrated being a "little person". He would arrive at a family event and be the target of hugs, kisses and smiles from every member of the family. Everybody wanted to connect with Ron because of how he treated them. Ron married Angie in 1992, and the two of them shared a deep love and great fun over all their married years. The biggest joys in their lives are their sons, Christopher and Michael. He was so proud of their achievements as young men, but more importantly, proud of who they are with their friends and family. He also had a great passion for sports and always cheered on his sons, their friends, and his nieces and nephews. He and his wife, Angie were dedicated fans of the San Francisco Giants; next to marrying his love, and the birth of his two boys, the Giants finally winning a World Series, may be the happiest moment in his life. His bright, infectious smile always stood out when he was out driving his 1985 Chevy or riding his motorcycle. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Angie; his two sons, Christopher and Michael, and his mother, Antoinette of San Jose, CA. He is also survived by his brother and sisters, Karen (Jay) Cook of Monterey, CA, Jim (Jean) Giuffr‚ of Boise, ID, and Patty (Paul) Lindsay of El Dorado Hills, CA. His passion for helping people and his wonderful sense of humor will live through us all. Ronny, your beautiful, warm, loving soul will be remembered and with us always. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church, 416 Chestnut, Chico, CA, on Saturday, January 8, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be at Glen Oaks Memorial Park in Chico, CA immediately following the mass. A viewing will be held from 5 - 8 p.m. on Friday, January 7, 2011 at Brusie Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a Memorial College Fund for Christopher and Michael.
