Obituary of Ruby Lewis

A Crypt side service will be held for Ruby Lewis, 94, of Chico, at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Glen Oaks Memorial Park. Ruby passed away on February 24, 2012. She was born in Marysville, Kansas on January 21, 1918 to Lillian Lulu (Messerli) and Norman Howard Cochran. She was the 2nd of 5 children and was preceded in death by brothers, Ivan Earl, Robert E., Wayne Howard, and sister, Betty Bell Simmons. Ruby was raised in Oroville and graduated from Oroville High School. After graduation, she married George M. Lewis and moved to Chico and raised three children. She is survived by children, Larry, Loene, and Linda; and has 3 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. Ruby was a homemaker, she cared for grandchildren, and later in life was the Site Manager at a Community Action Agency Senior Nutrition Program from 1982-1993. For 37 years Ruby enjoyed ballroom dancing with George.
