Obituary of Margaret Dierker

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Brusie Funeral Home for Francine C. Dierker. Francine passed away Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012. She was 92 years old. Francine was born Feb. 22, 1920 to Lydia and Oliver Close in San Pablo, CA. She graduated from Armstrong Business College in Berkeley, CA. While attending college, she met her husband, Fred Dierker, a student at Cal Berkeley. She married Fred Dierker in 1940. Fran was employed at Roos Brothers in Berkeley for a couple years and was then employed for 21 years as an office manager for Hayward Unified School District, where she worked in several elementary schools in the district. She retired at age 55. While she and her husband were raising their daughters, Donna and Ann, they became very active parishoners in St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Hayward, CA. Fran was an active member of the Women's Guild at the church and also served as Treasurer of the school carnival for several years. Francine loved sewing and made several beautiful outfits for both herself and her daughters. She also became quite proficient at upholstering furniture. In addition, Francine enjoyed playing bridge and pinochle with friends. She and her husband traveled to Europe and Hawaii. They also traveled within the states in their RV. Family was extremely important to Francine. Holidays were always special to her and she especially enjoyed spending time with those she loved. She was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Francine is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years. She is also survived by her sister, Donna Yuill; her daughters, Ann Finney and Donna Martin and their husbands, along with 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in her name may do so to the American Cancer Society, in care of the Brusie Funeral Home.
