Obituary of Jeremy Hoptowit

Jeremy Michael Hoptowit, 41, of Chico, died on April 17, 2013. He was born on August 24, 1971 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Jeremy moved with his family to Chico in 1976, attended Chico High and Chico State University. At age 19, expanding on his unique and creative computer skills, he moved to the Bay Area and worked for the City of Palo Alto assisting the administration in implementing innovative accounting software. These were busy years for Jeremy. Within two or three short years, Jeremy had started his own software company laying the foundation for his and his family's future. He met Joanna Elizabeth Handtke and they married on October 25, 1992. Together they bought a home and had three children, relocating to Chico in the summer of 2000. In Chico, Jeremy continued to successfully build his software company, Aleuron Systems. He and Joanna completely rebuilt their beautiful family home. Jeremy still found time to display his culinary genius in his favorite place in the home, the kitchen, where he constructed marvelous meals for his family. He was devoted to making the lives of his family and friends, including the students at Notre Dame, better with his vast knowledge of technology. He was an active supporter of student athletics and activities, inclding Notre Dame, AAU basketball, and CARD programs, especially soccer. Jeremy is survived by his loving wife Joanna; his three beautiful and precious children, Emily, Evan, and Elizabeth; mother, Barbara and stepfather Mike; father, Dennis. His brother John preceded him in death. Numerous aunts, uncles and cousins primarily from Montana. Jeremy, your thoughtfulness, guidance and support exemplify your many rare qualities. We love you. Services will be held Friday, April 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Johns Catholic Church in Chico. A private reception will be held at the family home following the srvice.
