Obituary of Joseph Finelli

A Memorial Mass of the resurrection will be held Wednesday, October 2nd 2013 at 1 P.M. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church for Joseph Alfred Finelli . Mr. Finelli passed away Tuesday, September 10th, 2013 in Chico he was 92. Born October 2, 1920 in Buhl, MN to August and Rosa (Volpiana ) Finelli. Joseph graduated High School in 1938, Buhl, MN. He received high honors in engineering in 1942 from the University of Minnesota. Following his graduation from college, he married his high school sweetheart Peggy Walma. Joseph worked on the Atomic Bomb with the U.S. Army in 1944, and also spent time in the Philippines with the Army Engineers group. Joseph met Frank Bensen in 1946, he worked and became part owner of Timber Construction-general manager in the late 1950's. He was owner and manager of Tim Con Construction for 30 years. He owned a home at Lake Almanor since the late 50's and also a home in Oakland and Chico. Joseph met Gage Chrysler in 1979 and worked with Modern Building Construction until retiring in 2013 at the age of 92 " We all miss you Joe " ! Joe was preceded in death by his wife Peg in 2002, his parents, and sister Matilda "Till" Byrne and brother- in -law John "Ben" Byrne. Joe is survived by nieces and nephews Patricia and (Gerald) Postudensek of Buhl, MN, William Robert (Deb) Byrne of EauClaire,WI, Jeanne (David) Byrne-Manring of Blaine, TN, John (Karee) Byrne of Lake Leander, Britt, MN, and Shelly (Edward) Kurth of Wausau, WI and many great friends ! In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name can be made to the Enloe Medical Center or Twin Oaks Rehab Center in care of the Brusie Funeral Home.
