I met Peter Crandall when we were students at UC Davis. We both played trumpet in the marching band. Peter was president of the Sigma Phi Epsilon chapter when I joined. He was an excellent leader whose example set a high standard for his brothers and friends.
When Peter graduated, he became a SigEp regional director in Texas. By all accounts, his performance was outstanding. Peter continued as a SigEp volunteer throughout his life. I had the honor of serving with him as an alumni volunteer at our Davis home chapter. He was conscientious and wise. Peter's devoted and productive service to SigEp earned him the fraternity's Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2013.
Peter was mature yet playful, kind, gentle and friendly. He had a steady, confident bearing and social ease that was inspiring. I have happy memories of the pleasant times we shared over the years. His friendship with countless others spoke to his positive aspect. It is a testament to Peter that so many showed concern and came to his aid later in his life.
I miss Peter. He was a good man and a good friend. I am proud to call him brother.
My wife June and I share our sincere sympathy to Peter's friends and family. We send our heartfelt condolences in particular to his sister, Sue.

Peter was a great SigEp brother, not just to me or even the brothers of our chapter at UC Davis, but to the entire SigEp family nationwide. He is, and will be, sorely missed by myself and the Brothers and Sisters of the California Eta Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.

A kind and respectful man toward others. I know Mr. Crandall will be greatly missed by those who knew him best and cherished him in their hearts, so to you I extend my deepest condolences. May today’s sadness turn to tomorrow's joy as we hope for a better future for all. Isaiah 26:19; Psalms 37:29

Peter was such a bright light and so talented. He always made me smile. We were good and close friends in school and his passing is such a loss to us all. May God peace be with all who morn his passing, and are lifted up in prayers.
