Antonio Guzman Castillo

Obituary of Antonio Guzman Castillo

Antonio Castillo Guzman was born on May 10, 1934 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, and gained his Angel wings on September 15, 2021.

Antonio crossed into the US from Mexico at the age of 16, and settled in Chico after many years of traveling up and down the West Coast harvesting crops from apples to grapes to nuts, and most things in between. He was a landscaper by trade, and a meticulous one at that. Not a sprig out of place on a manicured bush, or a leaf left on a yard from a tree in Chico’s Fall. Tony, as he was affectionately called by many, had a work ethic and pride of craftsmanship that was admired by his friends, family, and clients alike. He worked until the start of the COVID pandemic, when the worry of exposure to the virus forced him into retirement at 85 years young.

Tony is survived by his wife, Susan Castillo, who devoted her life to taking great care of him. A daughter - Diana Castillo Selland, son - Mario Castillo, and three beautiful grandchildren - Andres Godinez-Castillo, Antonio Godinez-Castillo, and Olivia Castillo who were all his pride and joy.  Sister and brother in law, Jackie and Bill Coats. Brother and sister in law, Alan and Patty Jason. Sister in law, Maria Castillo. Nieces and nephews; Crystal Coats, Rob Haley, Ismael Castillo, Nicolas Castillo, Melonie, Stacy and Jennifer Jason, Anthony Leach, and numerous in Mexico. An extended family he adored in the Magaña’s and Khaki’s. Clients who treated him like family; The McAmis’s, Chrysler’s, and Ostrander’s. He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings. Tony will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was blessed by many years of wonderful care from Dr. Stephen & Debbie Petersen, Dr. Steven Sterzer, Dr. Muhammad Bashir and many others who touched his life and helped keep him healthy. We are eternally grateful.

A Celebration of Life will be held per Antonio’s wishes. Drop by to join us on Tuesday, September 21st between 4pm and 7pm. Please contact Diana at 530-965-2053 for address.
