Obituary of IvaRose Rushing

We regretfully announce the passing of IvaRose Rushing of Chico, CA on 7 March 2022. 

     Our mother, Rose, was one of the bravest women to ever walk this earth and our family was blessed to have her as the head of the family. As a Single Parent of three, Rose raised 3 strong children. Tough love and a tender heart were her 2 most popular tools to keep them on the straight and narrow.

     One of her proudest moments was graduating from the Butte College Police Academy, her first step in pursuing her dream of a career in Law Enforcement. After graduating she became a Reserve Orland Police Officer, served as Jailer, and finally settled in as a full time Dispatcher.

     You could hear Rose laugh from a mile away. She loved to spend time in her garden, ride horses (of which she owned a few) and dance. On rainy days she loved cuddling up to read and write. Her favorite holidays were Halloween (she loved dressing up with the grandkids) and Christmas. She always went above and beyond to spoil the ones she loved most.

     She was passionate about helping people and animals. Whether through her job or personal life, Rose always had space in her heart to lift up others. She was deeply protective of her animals, caring for just about anything that would come her way. Among her favorites was “Zeus,” a beautiful K9 dog that she trained herself – they were inseparable.  

     Rose was predeceased by her Father William Whitmer, Mother Margaret Lively, and her sons Glenn Murphy and Jason Rushing. She is survived by her son Tom Murphy, Daughter RoseAnne Pease, Granddaughter Ashton Pease and Grandsons Donovan and Preston Murphy.

     Rose will be laid to rest at Glen Oaks Memorial Cemetery in a private ceremony.
