Obituary of Christine Elaine Olson

Christine Olson age 79, left us too soon while surrounded by her loving family on April 15, 2022, in Chico, CA, where she had lived since 2004.

Chris was born on December 19, 1942, in Petaluma, CA to Richard and Opal Campo. A long-time resident of Vallejo, Chris graduated from Vallejo Sr. High School in 1960. She is survived by her best friend and partner, Pam Eckert; daughters, Jennifer Olson and Julia Kistle (David); treasured grandsons, Joseph Walter, Jack Kistle and Ryan Kistle; her aunt, Dorothy Higgins; brothers, Bobby Campo (Loana), Jerry Campo (Jean), Kenny Campo (Sue); much loved nieces and nephews, and her beloved Golden Retriever, Maggie.

Chris was preceded in death by her mother and father and her oldest brother, Bert Campo (Mary).Chris was an avid athlete, sports enthusiast, and coach. She played women's softball, golf and bowled for many years. She served as President of the Police Activities League and Captain of the Blue Rock Springs Women's Club.She was a devoted partner, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She took over as matriarch of the Campo family and was always the safety net when needed, no matter how difficult the challenge.She enjoyed travelling and spontaneous adventures having travelled the US, Greece, Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Alaska.

Mostly, Chris loved her country and was a patriot. She was proud to have been a guest at two Presidential Inaugurations.Chris worked in many different positions throughout her working career. She worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard and Kaiser Steel/Napa Pipe most of the time. She loved working outdoors and in non-traditional roles. After retirement, she enjoyed building a successful business with her brother, Jerry Campo.Chris was a strong advocate for the rights of and opportunities for women and girls. She led by the example that "If something was worth doing; it was worth doing right!" We will miss her greatly but know she is with us in our hearts every minute of every day.

Friends and loved ones are encouraged to gather and share memories at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at the Blue Rock Springs Golf Course Club House located at 655 Columbus Parkway, Vallejo.
