Obituary of Ruth Berniece Terrell
Ruth was born in Heavener, Oklahoma, June 16, 1930, to Metch Harris and Gertie Huckleby Harris. At the age of sixteen, Ruth married the love of her life, Ernie Terrell. Together they had two children: Debbie (Roper) and Jack Terrell. Jack was adopted as an infant but sadly died a short time later from health complications.
Ruth loved to travel. Road trips to see family and friends were common. She also loved art, painting a number of scenery pieces herself. One of her favorite things to do with her great grandkids was to paint rocks, making them into animals and other fun designs. She also loved to show her grandkids and great grandkids how to cook, especially cookies. She would also create games, like “Grocery Store,” designed to help them learn math, and taught them card games and other table games. Sitting outside eating ice cream or eating fruit right out of the garden were among her best times. As long as she had her family around, she was happy.
Ruth was pre-deceased by her parents, husband Ernie (who died in 1987 after 40 years of marriage) and her son Jack. She is survived by her second husband ‘Len’ Leonard, grandchildren Starla, Eileen, Ross, and Tyler; eight great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. She’s with family now in Heaven.
