Obituary of Angelina Lara

Angelina passed Monday October 31st peacefully in her home with family at her bedside. 

She was born Sept. 2, 1940 (Labor Day) in Pueblo, Colorado-she later moved with her family to Mack, Colorado and lived on their ranch with her 17 siblings. At 18 she traveled to New Mexico where she met and married her first husband. A few years later they moved to Chico and started a family. 

She later divorced and married the love of her life-Marcial Lara. In 1975 She and Marcial settled in Durham, CA and have been active community members ever since. 

Survivors include her husband Marcial Lara of Durham, her children Carla Hulfish of Elk Grove, Ca, Debbie Piña of Durham and her son Carlos Atencio Jr. of Chico. Her 6 grandchildren-RaeAnne Owen, Bianca Sheridan, Crystal Grossman, Dawn Hulfish, Dani Davis, Dominick Piña and 6 great-grandchildren Felix, Noah, Liam, Colin, Damian and Luna. 

After we lay her to rest we invite friends and family to join us for dinner and music as we celebrate the colorful life of our beloved Grandma. 

Pallbearers will be her family members-Brad Hulfish, Wes Owen, Felix Owen, Noah Owen, Dominick Piña, and Carlos Atencio Jr.”
