Obituary of Helen Soares

Helen Elizabeth Soares,93 of Chico, died January 23, 2023. She was born March 6, 1929, in Chico,CA, to the late Manuel and Ruby Azevedo.Helen attended Shasta Union Grammar School and graduated from Chico High School in 1946. Helen married Manuel Soares in 1952, and they shared 63 wonderful years together.

Helen attended Our Divine Savior Catholic Church and was an active member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She was also a member of the Chico Portuguese Club.

Helen was devoted to her family. She is survived by her four children: Tony (Debi) Soares, Michael Soares,Cathy Soares (Rusty Jacobson) and Cheryl (Myles) Pustejovsky;Grandchildren Emily (Chris) LaMoe, Anna (Ryan) Johnson, and Jared Soares (Katelyn Polantz); and Great grandchildren Caroline and Henry LaMoe, and Caleb and Cameron Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband and her daughter-in-law, Marlene Soares. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm, Tuesday, February 28, at Brusie Funeral Home.
