Obituary of Domingo Flores

Domingo Flores Fausto was born December 20, 1924 in Los Amalies, Jalisco, Mexico and passed away peacefully on May 17, 2023, with his lovingly family by his side. Domingo was raised in Ameca, Jalisco, Mexico where he worked on the corn and agave fields. During WWII, Domingo was one of millions of men who worked in the United States under the Bracero Program. From 1943 1945 Domingo worked in the fields of Southern California to the railroads in Chicago. It was in Chicago that a friend took him to a Chinese restaurant, which created a lifelong love of the cuisine. Domingo returned to Mexico and in 1957 he married Lupe and they immigrated to Chula Vista, California and eventually they and their children made their way to Hamilton City where they have lived since 1965. Domingo worked many years as a ranch foreman, retiring in 2004 from Hennigan Farms. When Domingo was not working hard to provide for his family, he enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and had a great passion for gardening; a passion and skill that extended to his children and grandchildren. Domingo was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, a son (David) and daughter (Christina). He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Maria Guadalupe and his children: Anna Flores (Michael Powell), Bertha Carter (Charles), Enrique Flores (Theresa), Francisco Flores (Alicia), Kika Alexander, Rafael Flores (Alma Conde), and Elvia Flores (Hamed Amiri Ghaemmaghami). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Brittany Rubio; Marcus Carter, Anthony Carter, Jeremy Carter; Levi Flores; Robert Flores (Jordan), Christopher Flores, Gabrielle Herrera (CJ); Ethan Alexander; Alejandro Flores, Lucas Flores; Penelope Amiri Ghaemmaghami; and three great grandsons. Domingo was blessed to also be survived by six step grandchildren & nine step great grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by three sisters and many, many nieces and nephews and their children. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 31st at Brusie Funeral Home with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. A Mass will be held on Thursday, June 1 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 416 Chestnut Street, Chico Ca, followed by burial at Glen Oaks Memorial Park.
