Obituary of Jeanette Marie Jones
Jeanette Marie Jones passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023, in Oroville, CA at the age of 63. She was born on June 1, 1960, in Wichita, Kansas to James Sherwood Jones and Zola Joan Jones. When Jeanette was 3 years old, her family moved to Nicosia, Cyprus, where her father was the President of their church mission. Jeanette and her older brother, Scott, went to the British School in Nicosia. Her youngest sister, Susan, was born while the family was in Cyprus. In 1968, Jeanette and her family spent 3 months exploring Europe before moving to Atlanta, Georgia. One year later the family moved to Madison, Tennessee. In 1977, when Jeanette was a junior in high school, her family moved to Loma Linda, California. Jeanette went to San Pasqual Adventist Boarding Academy in Escondido, CA for her senior year in high school, graduating in 1978. For college, Jeanette attended Pacific Union College in St. Helena, CA and then completed her Nursing degree at Glendale Adventist Medical Center, in Glendale, CA. Jeanette was an excellent nurse and worked at many of the hospitals in Southern California (usually in the ICU) including Loma Linda University Medical Center, Redlands Community Hospital, Riverside Community Hospital, Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, and Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach. While working full time as a nurse, Jeanette also took courses at Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc), almost completing a degree in Architecture. Jeanette then moved to Grants Pass, Oregon for several years. In 1997 she moved to Chico, California, where she met and married Dr. Carl Tenckhoff, a local Chiropractor. Jeanette worked with Carl helping to run his practice. The couple shared custody of Carl’s children, Lara, Karl, Derek and Ana. Eventually Jeanette and Carl moved to Oroville, CA where Jeanette worked for Oroville Hospital as a Supervising Nurse in the Diagnostic Radiology Department. Jeanette was an extremely competent and empathetic nurse and was respected by her colleagues. Jeanette was a talented, self-taught artist that especially enjoyed creating watercolor paintings. She was a gourmet level cook often entertaining family and friends. Jeanette loved music and was an accomplished pianist, learning to play at an early age. She especially loved to play pieces by Frederic Chopin. She loved animals and always had several furry family members in her house. She was a loving daughter and sister, a devoted wife and mother, and a loyal friend. She is survived by her husband, Carl Tenckhoff, stepdaughter Lara Tenckhoff and husband Jake Fender, stepson Karl Tenckhoff and wife Jamie Tenckhoff, stepson Derek Tenckhoff and stepdaughter Ana Tenckhoff.
