Obituary of Clinton Eugene Rose

Clinton Eugene Rose passed peacefully in Oroville hospital on July 4th, 2023, at age 77. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marilyn Maynard Rose, his son, Charles Eugene (Lisa) Rose, his daughter, Susan Rose (Kelly) Schneider and four granddaughters, Madeline, Heidi, Hannah and Katie. He is pre-deceased by his daughter, Rebecca Rose, his father, Warren Douglas Rose, and his mother, Joyce Elizabeth Turner Rose.

Clinton was born in 1946 in Chico, CA and spent most of his life in Richvale.  He graduated from Biggs High School and went on to get a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Bachelor of Science in Ag Business from California State University, Chico.

From a young age, he walked steadfastly with the Lord even amidst the toughest trials. He served as chairman of the board at the Richvale Evangelical Free Church and was a spiritual leader to his family.

During the Vietnam war, Clinton served in the Air Force as maintenance officer for the C-5 Galaxy and was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain, going on to serve in the reserves until he was medically discharged.

He was passionate about his work as a small business owner/rice farmer and enjoyed raising hobby livestock. He loved to fly and earned his commercial pilot’s license which he often used to “check the rice from the air.”  He got his Commercial Class A driver's license, which he used to transport his own crops and work as an owner/operator for local fruit harvests.

Clinton enjoyed hunting and his hunts included pheasant, deer, moose, bighorn sheep and even a grizzly bear. He loved babies, often volunteering to work in the church nursery with his wife and taking every opportunity afforded him to hold a baby.

Community was very important to Clinton. He was a fireman with the volunteer fire department in Richvale for many years. He also served as a board member for the Rice Growers Association and the Richvale Park District.

Clinton was a devoted family man and considered his family his greatest legacy.

A memorial service will be held at Richvale Community Church, 5219 Church Street, Richvale, at 11:00 AM August 11th.  There will be a graveside burial July 24th at 11:00 AM at Pine Creek Cemetery, 6195 Broyles Rd, Chico.
