Obituary of Patricia Marian Garrity

Patricia “Patty” Marian Garrity

Patty was born March 17, 1962 at Enloe Hospital in Chico, CA to Jake and Theresa Henneman, who were immigrants from Holland. She peacefully passed July 27, 2023 surrounded by loved ones.

She attended primary school at Notre Dame Catholic School followed by Chico High, where she competed on the swim and basketball teams. Upon graduation she attended Chico State. 

She was married twice and became a mother to three boys. Patty spent most of her adult life as a homemaker. She also worked as a bookkeeper for her husband’s construction company and for the family's almond farm. She did these successfully for many years and ultimately became the CEO of Henneman farms, which was started by her late father. She was very proud to take on this responsibility and to continue her father’s legacy, as well as guide two of her sons in the family business. She loved fishing, waterskiing, being outdoors and spent as much of her free time as possible enjoying these passions, until her health would no longer allow her to continue. 

She was also very diligent in her exercise regime, and would wake up early every morning and run a few miles before her professional responsibilities called upon her. Patty was strong willed and passionate about what she held dear. She lived her life on her own terms and stayed true to herself and her beliefs. She bravely battled cancer and fought this terrible disease with everything she had. 

She was welcomed into heaven by her father, Jake Henneman. Patty is survived by her mother Theresa Henneman, sister Cindy Ridenour (Steve), her brother Rick Henneman, her three sons, Matt Dunagan (Audra), Brian Garrity (Miranda) and CJ Garrity (Brittney), as well as her five grandchildren; Beau Garrity, Peyton Dunagan, Hank Garrity, Evan Dunagan and Reese Garrity as well as several extended family members. 

She loved all of her children and grandchildren deeply, and loved attending grandparent’s day at their schools, as well as attending their sporting events. She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed. 

A Catholic Rosary will be held at Brusie Funeral Home on Thursday, August 10 at 5:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at St. John’s the Baptist Catholic Church at 10 AM Friday, August the 11th.
