Obituary of Norma Lee Meier
Norma Lee Meier passed peacefully after a short illness on September 6, 2023. Norma was born in Colorado, but spent nearly 80 years here in Chico California where she, and her husband, Lloyd, raised their two children, Karen and Mindy. Norma and Lloyd were married over 50 years . During that time they acquired rental properties where Norma was the chief painter. She also helped out in the family orchard which included almonds, walnuts, and pistachios. She was known for her cooking abilities, especially her pies. After her kids were well into school, she began her career at Chico State, where she was a library assistant. After retiring, she volunteered as a grandparent with the Durham School District. She also was a first reader for the First Church of Christ, Scientist Chico. After Lloyd’s passing in 1995, she continued to be very active. She loved playing and calling bingo in her retirement home at Sycamore Glen. When she began to need more care, she moved to The Courtyard where she loved sitting outside at all times of the day. She was known there as the Mocha Queen. Throughout her entire life, she loved chocolate so, remember her with a smile when you eat a piece of chocolate.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen Caswell and husband Jack, daughter, Mindy Lewis, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at Glen Oaks Memorial Park at 11115 Midway in Chico, on Thursday, September 14th at 2:00 pm.
