Obituary of Denise Anne Racy

Denise Anne Racy, 71, of Chico, California, passed away on September 1, 2023. She was born on May 12, 1952, in Napa, California, to Nellie and Donald Jones.

Denise was a free spirit with a charismatic personality. She had a special way of making everyone feel like they were the most important person in the world. She had a deep love for butterflies, which she saw as a symbol of beauty emerging from darkness, as the caterpillar becomes a butterfly. Denise never forgot anyone's birthday, always taking the time to make others feel special.

She is survived by her children, Tony, Norman, Tessa, Tiffany, and Kyle, along with 8 granddaughters, 6 grandsons, sisters Joyce, Pam, Jennifer, and Donnelle, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and a great-great nephew. Denise was preceded in death by her brother Ken, mother Nellie, and father Donald.

Denise spent a significant portion of her life as a caregiver, a role that became a blessing for her entire family. When her mother Nellie needed assistance in her later years, Denise selflessly moved in to provide care. She showered Nellie with love, attention, and meticulous care, ensuring that all her needs were met. From braiding her hair, dressing her beautifully to letting her enjoy as much chocolate as she wanted. Denise created a nurturing and dignified environment for her mother. Her family, including Nellie, will forever be grateful for the love and dedication Denise showed.

Denise was a member of the Church of Nazarene in Chico and volunteered her time to conduct Bible study sessions with women in jail. She found solace and strength in her faith.

In her leisure time, Denise enjoyed various crafts including scrapbooking, card-making, and flowers out of paper. She also cherished her fur babies, finding joy and companionship in their presence.

Denise Anne Racy will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will forever be cherished by her family and friends.
