Obituary of Julia Medina Flores

Chico resident Julia Medina Flores passed peacefully at home on Sept 21 2023. Julie was born July 9 1946 at Enloe hospital to Isabel and Alfred Flores. She attended Rosedale elementary school and graduated from Chico High School in 1964 and Magna Cum Laude from CSUC with her Bachelor's degree in Ethnic Studies in 1983. One of her first jobs was as a supervisor at Diamond Match and then for more than 30 years at Chico State. Working with the International Students was her favorite position. 

An independent woman Julie raised her sons Todd Flores and Joseph Beauchamp largely on her own as she put herself through school and worked full time at CSUC. She met Agustin Haro in 1977 and they remained together until his passing in 2010.

Julie loved cycling and was an avid reader. She especially loved cats and also dogs which she had many of over the years. 

Julie is survived by her two sons, her siblings Martha Bailes, Robert Flores, Alicia Hartman, Patricia Govan, Katie O' Bryan, Lucia Chacon and Jeanne Saunders, her grandchildren Julia McQueen, Robert Flores, and Kassandra Flores, and her great granddaughter Abigail McQueen.
