Obituary of Elmer Metsker

ELMER "GERALD" METZGER A Graveside service will be held Thursday, October 2, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at Glen Oaks Memorial Park in Chico for Chico native Elmer Gerald Metzger, Mr. Metzger passed away Sunday, September 28, 2008 at a local care facility he was 86. Born December 22, 1921 in Chico, CA to Jacob E. Metzger and Blanche Metzger, he graduated from Chico High, he served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, He married Sally Wood July 9th, 1949 in Reno, Nevada. Gerald worked as an Iron worker in construction working all over the State for over 40 years . He was an avid hunter and Fisherman and loved to camp and garden. He is survived by his son Jerald E. Metzger and his wife Sandy, of Durham; a daughter Janice Cushman and her husband Mike, of Rio Dell, CA; sisters Donna Moobery of Chico, and Barbara Muller of Sacramento, CA; brothers Richard Metzger and his wife Donna of Chico, Ronald Metzger and his wife Lavita of Dayton, CA; grandson Jason Cushman and his wife Kristen of Orland; granddaughter Kristin Vessels and her husband Ray; and their children Anthony, and Cameron of Willows, CA. Anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in Gerald's name may do so to the Alzheimer's Association in care of the Brusie Funeral Home.
