Obituary of Gary Crosley

A graveside service will be held on Friday, Dec. 5, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Glen Oaks Memorial Park. Gary was born Dec. 29, 1931 in Bell Gardens to Orval and Clara Crosley. He moved to Nelson with his family in 1955 and graduated from Durham High School. After graduation he joined the Navy. He was a proud Navy man. Gary served aboard the U.S.S. Bryce Canyon which was his favorite ship and kept in touch with friends from that duty. He also served on a riverboat in Vietnam on the Mekong Delta where he was sprayed with Agent Orange, which later was the cause of his prostate cancer that spread throughout his body. After the service he was a groundskeeper at Durham High School until his retirement. Gary was an artist and his art decorates the walls of family and friends homes. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Francis Neighbors and Orval Crosley; sister, Anita Gore; nephew, Frank Gore; and niece, Karen Smith McLeod. His survivors include his sisters, Betty Gore and Darlene (Mac) McLeod and many nieces and nephews. Gary fought a long difficult battle and now he's at home.
