Obituary of Violet Palmer

After a month long illness, Jean Palmer died on April 19, 2008, at Enloe Hospital. She was 73 and a long time resident of Chico. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Neil; daughters, Lauri Schwein of Sacramento and Leesa Palmer of Chico; grandson, Miles of Sacramento; and cousin, Sharron Korton of Magalia. Jean was also the cherished "mommy" to dozens of others in her extended family. There were no strangers in her world, and many lives were touched by her open, accepting arms and unconditional love. Jean had the wonderful ability to find beauty in almost everything and everybody. She had a delightful and contagious sense of humor, and being the best of "good sports", always laughed loudest at herself. She was a spirited, strong, independent, adventurous woman who was awed by nature and enjoyed the great outdoors. She adored animals (especially cats), loved basketball, singing, dancing, and playing in the dirt. Her spirit of giving was limitless. Although she will be terribly missed, "mommy's" legacy of love will forever warm the hearts of the many that were blessed to have known her. A celebration of her life will be held at the Chico Masonic Family Center, 1110 W. East Ave on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Rd, Kanab, UT 84741.
