Obituary of Willene Adams

June 13, 1929 to May 24, 2008 In the late afternoon of May 24th 2008 a light heart and quick smile gently passed away in Chico, CA. Willene Adams died peacefully in her home surrounded by her two children and their spouses. Mrs. Adams had been suffering from the effects of her second bout with cancer. Willene Lorraine Adams was 78 years young when she passed away. Willene (Watt) Adams was born in Nezperce, Idaho June 13, 1929 and moved to Chico, CA with her parents, William and Georgia Watt and sister, Shirley (Watt) Payne in 1931. Willene attended all her formal education in Chico, achieving her Bachelor of Arts in education in 1951 and started teaching shortly after. Willene married John (Jackson) Adams Jr. in Chico, CA. in 1952 where she lived until 1964 when she moved with her family to Santa Barbara CA. Willene went on to live in San Jose, CA and eventually moved to Pebble Beach, CA in 1968 where she lived until 1978. Willene and Jack Adams were avid golfers and golf was a driving force in their choice of future social pursuits and family residences. For 33 years Willene and Jack Adams were members of the Monterey Peninsula Country Club in Pebble Beach, CA. Willene moved to Montecito, CA in 1978 and soon moved back to the Monterey Peninsula (Carmel) and held another residence in Gleneagles Scotland. Willene was also a member of the Crief Golf Club in Auchterader, Scotland and Butte Creek Country Club in Chico, California. Willene was also a member of Eastern Star. Willene moved back to Chico, CA in 1994 where she and Jack enjoyed all of their dear childhood friends and family members still residing in the Chico area. Willene loved her golf, bridge games and most of all her friends, of which she was surely blessed with many. Willene was a truly lovely person with a contagious wit and vigor for life that will be missed. Willene is survived by her sister, Shirley Payne of Chico, CA and two children, Susan (Adams) Mexielsperger and spouse Chris and David and Jacqueline Adams both of Monterey, CA. Willene has two surviving grandchildren, Parker Jackson Adams and Lexie Sarah Adams both of Monterey. Willene will be missed by everyone!! If you have ever had to pronounce her name, it makes you smile to say "Willene". There will be a short service on Sunday, June 1, 2008 at the Butte Creek Country Club from 2 to 4 p.m. All who knew Willene are welcome. Arrangements were made by the Brusie Funeral Home.
