Obituary of Elma Ryon

Surrounded by her loving husband of over sixty five years and her five children, Elma Jane Ryon passed peacefully from this life on January 31,2009 . She was born January 4,1920 to Edwin Earl and Minnie May White. While attending Chico State College she met Charles Frederick Ryon and they were married July 7, 1943.While Fred served in the U.S. Navy during WWII she taught Home Economics at Willows and Corning High Schools . When Fred was transferred to Alameda Naval Station she joined him there and worked at Montgomery Wards until the birth of their first child. When the war ended they moved back to the ranch outside of Nelson, CA where Elma was born. She enjoyed her life as a beekeeper's wife. She and Fred had four more children and were kept busy raising the five through school,4H club and other activities. After the kids left home Elma became active in both Eastern Star and Rebekah Lodges. Fred survives her as well as all five children.They are Patricia JaneJones(Steve), Elizabeth Ann Rolland(Don), Edwin Eugene Ryon(Carol), Janet Louise Hewitt(Merlin) and Charles Hensy Ryon(Margaret). She is also survived by 13 grandchildren,12 adopted grandchildren and many great grandchildren,as well as various cousins,nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter Tammy Sue Jones and her sister Edlo May McAlister. Under the direction of Brusie Funeral Home there will be a graveside service held at Chico Cemetery on February 3,2009 at 2:00pm . In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to Richvale Volunteer Fire Dept., Enloe Hospice,or Shriners Hospital for Children.
