Obituary of Donald Keyes

Donald Roy Keyes, born November 7, 1937, went to be with his maker on the evening of July 4, 2008. He was at home in the loving arms of his wife, Barbara. His early life was one of struggle and hard work, developing in him a strong sense of commitment and integrity through all of his endeavors. Don especially enjoyed his work in Chico as an LVN at Enloe Hospital. He was devoted to quality loving care of people and solid teamwork with his colleagues. In retirement he and his wife taught the English language to school children in China, where they fell in love with the culture and the people who called them Grandmother and Grandfather. Don loved his garden, woodworking, fishing and playing games with family and friends. Don leaves behind his wife, Barbara Evans Keyes; brothers, Howard, Rudy, Bob; sister, Ellen, their spouses and families; daughters, Susan, Katherine, Nancy, their spouses and families; stepchildren Debbie, Marc, Darren, their spouses and families; all including sixteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Not to forget his dear friends from high school, Tom and Carol Weeks, the wonderful Perez family, Jose, Judy and children and many others in Oregon, China, and elsewhere. If it was broke, Don fixed it, something old, he made it new. He will be dearly missed until we all are gathered again in our Father's house. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am July 19, 2008 at the Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Chico, 3880 Morrow Lane Chico, CA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, c/o the Brusie Funeral Home.
