Obituary of Elva Boyles

A graveside service will be held for Elva "EJ" Boyles, 77 of Chico, on Friday, April 24, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Chico Cemetery. Elva passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Enloe Hospital. She was born January 11, 1932 to Lowell and Anna Cathcart in Florence, Colorado. In 1944 she moved to Richmond and then to Chico in 1948. In 1950 she graduated from Chico High School. She met her husband while working as an operator for Pacific Telephone and Telegraph for 11 years before going to work for Chico Unified School Dist. as a cook for 36 years. Elva enjoyed gardening and taking care of her grandkids. She is survived by her son, Craig of Rancho Cordova; daughter, Tami (Randy) Rollag of Chico; grandchildren, Jarryd and Haley; brother, Lloyd Cathcart of Medford, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Boyles in 1978. Visitation will be held from 5 - 8 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Brusie Funeral Home.
