Obituary of Paul Garcia

Long time Chico resident, Paul "Red" Garcia, 96, passed peacefully on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 in Chico. Paul was born February 20, 1913 to Antonio and Maria Garcia aboard a ship from Spain to Hawaii. In 1918 the family moved to Decoto which in now Union City, CA. In 1946 he moved to Chico where he worked for Chico Electric for most of his career. He volunteered as a firefighter at Station #1 here in Chico from 1946-1986. His survivors include his son, Richard of Chico; grandchildren, Julie Wasserman, Christine Denn and Mark Denn; and four great- granddaughters, Krista, Melissa, Allison and Natalie. Paul was preceded in death by his wife of over 35 years, Ruby Mable in1973; his wife of over 25 years, Wanda Maxine in 2004; and his daughter, Rochelle Denn in 1992. A viewing will be held from 5-8 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2009 and a closed casket service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, both at Brusie Funeral Home located at 626 Broadway in Chico. Burial will be at Glen Oaks Memorial Park immediately after the funeral service. In addition, there will be a luncheon at the Chico Masonic Hall at 1110 W. East Ave, Chico following all services.
