Obituary of Deno Rabo

Deno Rabo, a native of CA, passed away May 25, 2009 at his home in Chico, at the age of 92 surrounded by family. He was born March 10, 1917 to Alfred and Delia Rabo. Deno was educated in Chico and later joined the Army Air Corps. On December 18, 1937 he married his wife of 71 years, Nancy. Deno in the early years worked for Quality Dairy Company but will be remembered most as the owner- operator of the Golden Empire Candy Company. He was a lifetime member of the Chico Elks, was on the Board of Directors of the Nat'l Wholesale Candy Assoc. He was also a member of both the Exchange Club and the Butte Creek Country Club. Deno was a world wide traveler; he loved hunting, fishing, golfing and playing gin rummy. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends at their cabin at Lake Almanor. Deno is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; son, David (Jean) of Durham; daughter, Kathy Ferguson and the late John Ferguson of Glenn; grandson, Jason Ferguson (Tamara) of Cohasset; granddaughters, Amy Luiz (Patrick) of Chico and Dina Rabo of San Diego, Lisa Bender (Gretchen) of Sacramento, and Emily Rabo of Chico; along with four great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a Rosary at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Our Divine Savior, Friday, May 29, 2009. Memorial contributions can be made to Notre Dame School, or charities of your choice.
