Obituary of Elma DalPorto

Elma Dal Porto, age 99, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2009 in Folsom, California. She was born May 30, 1910 in Chico, California and was preceded in death by her husband, Angelo Dal Porto; her parents, James and Gertrude Lewis and two sisters, Lilly Ferguson and Ruby Ruttencutter. She was also preceded in death by half brothers, Earl, Clifford and Bobby Lyons, John Lewis and half sister, Ava Draper. Elma grew up in Chico and Modoc County, graduating from Chico High School in 1928. In the early 30's, she married Ronald William Fisher and they had one daughter. Elma lived and worked in Sacramento for the Department of Social Welfare and the Division of Highways. When she retired she returned to Chico and lived at Chico Mobile Country Club. She loved to play bridge with her friends. She enjoyed bowling and was on a team at Orchard Lanes. Elma always liked flowers and enjoyed working in her garden. Elma is survived by her daughter, Nancy Phillis; two granddaughters, Cheri McFarland (Tim) and Deborah Baumbach (Jim) and four great-grandsons, Ryan, Patrick, Scott and Brian and a new great-great-granddaughter, (Alyssa) due to be born in mid-February. She is also survived by two half brothers, Jim Lewis (Shirley) and Norman Lyons. Services will be held on Friday, December 18, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in Chico at the Glen Oaks Memorial Park Mausoleum. Brusie Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
