Obituary of Bobby Robinson

Bobby (Bo) Gene Robinson was born November 29, 1929 to Mary Edna Masey and Earnest Benjamin (E. B.) Robinson, Jr. in Mineral Wells, Texas. Bo lived a full life; he started working at an early age, first driving big rigs for his grandfather, then he went to Mexico as a young man to work on oil rigs, where he fell in love with the ocean, a passion that later showed in his artwork. His first love was motorcycles; he was born to ride. He was still riding at age 75. He moved to California in 1956, where he met Dorothy L. Cox and had his only child. He lived in Chico until 1980, owning several successful businesses under the name, Bo-Bec. He left Chico in 1980 to pursue his lifelong dream of being an artist and returned in 2009 to live with his daughter, Jody L. Robinson. He was self taught and signed his work under the signature of Bo-Bec, his paintings evolved over the years from landscapes and seascapes to amazing Native American and Western work that he became known for. This was not surprising to his family, he was raised by his Native American grandmother and his Irish/Native American grandfather. He was very proud of his heritage and it showed in his artwork. He eventually retired in Mason, Texas, not far from where he grew up. Bo was preceded in death by his parents and youngest brother, Michael Hicks and widowed in 1996, losing his wife, Rebecca M. Robinson (Becky) after 34 years of marriage. He is survived by two sisters, Darleen Garrett and Dixie Anna Robinson Lowry, both of Texas; a brother, Earnest Benjamin Robinson III (Sonny) of Arizona; daughter, Jody L. Robinson Stevens; 5 grandchildren, Azalyne Skye-Olson, Jamie Garner, Casey Wilson, Jessica Alcantar and Mario Alcantar; and 9 great-grandchildren. Bo also leaves behind many lifelong friends throughout the United States from his years of travel showing his art. He had a great love for animals and was kind and generous to everyone and will be missed dearly. A Memorial Service will be held at the Brusie Funeral Home on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 3:00 p.m.
