Obituary of John Vlasoff

John Mihailovich Vlasoff passed away on Jan. 25, 2011 at Enloe Hospital in Chico, CA. He was 87. He was born on Aug. 10, 1923 in Russia. He was a US Navy WWII vet. He served on the light cruiser, USS Honolulu and also on the aircraft carrier, St. Lowe. He received the Bronze Star. John was married for 55 years to Polly Peter Popoff Vlasoff. He enjoyed fishing, and gardening his acre of land. He is survived by his sons, Bruce Vlasoff of Chico and Mitchell Vlasoff of Forbes, CA; daughters, Maenya Vlasoff of Livermore, CA and Linda Chmielewski of Woodland, CA; grandchildren, Shelia Simpson of Redding, CA, John Vlasoff of Riverside, CA, Steven and Bradon Vlasoff of Fall River Mills, CA, Kirk Chmielewski of Fort Hood, TX, and Eric Chmielewski of Woodland, CA; and four great-grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, Jan. 31, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Oaks Memorial Park Midway, Chico, CA.
