Obituary of James Johnson

James V. Johnson passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at his home, at the age of 75. Jim was born Sept. 17, 1935 in Chillicothe, MO to Raymond and Delilah Johnson. After 4 years of service in the Army, he married his bride of 48 years, Mary Kay Sorenson. They were married November 28, 1959 in Nebraska, shortly after they settled in Chico, CA, where Jim worked for the City of Chico for 33 years. After retiring from the City, he went to work for the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, part time for 7 years. Jim is survived by his brother, Ken; son, Jeffery and wife, Deanne; daughter, Marla and husband, Bob Stidham; five grandchildren, Michael, Justin, Tyler, Cortney, and Chelsea. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kay; son, Stacey Lynn; parents, and four sisters, and four brothers. Jim had many friends, and loved being around his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing, but his real passion was fishing, and he loved to share that passion with his friends, family, and grandchildren. Jim will be missed dearly by all who know him. A Service will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Brusie Funeral home. Those wishing to view, may do so an hour before service time. Following the service at the funeral home, Military Honors will be performed at Glen Oaks Memorial Park.
