Obituary of Barbara Santos

Barbara Santos died at home on November 27, 2011, with her family by her side. For the last three years, she lived a productive life defying the doctor's predictions as she battled stomach cancer. Despite her illness, she always looked beautiful. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, George; her grandchildren, Brandi Duncan, Matthew Dailey, Harrison LeRossignol, and Erick Wittsell. She is survived by her four children, George A. Santos (Vicki), Mari Dailey (Dan), and Marci McIntire (Tim), all of Chico, Jennifer Konyn (Jake) of Durham, and foster daughter, Deborah Burgess. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; numerous adoring nieces and nephews, and her sister, Margaret Ballinger. Barbara Lee Jacobs was born in 1932, in Chico, and lived there almost her entire life. Barbara graduated from Chico High School in 1950. Barbara was employed as the supervisor of the CSU Chico Print Shop, retiring in 1989, after 20 years of service. She was a golfer at Butte Creek CC and was also an avid traveler. Mexico was her favorite destination. For many years she was a regular donor of blood and blood platelets. Barbara was a life-long parishioner at St. John's Catholic Church and proud to serve there as a Eucharistic Minister. In her last year, she took up ballroom dancing with a new partner, Charlie McCarthy, and enjoyed numerous, happy outings with him and their mutual friends. There will be a visitation on Friday, Dec. 16, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Brusie Funeral Home, with the Rosary being said at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Divine Savior Catholic Church.
