Obituary of Dale Walters

Dale passed away Friday, April 27, 2012. He was born at Enloe Hospital on March 4, 1960 to Ray and Alys Walters. He was number 8 of 9 children, the pick of the litter according to his wife. Dale graduated from Durham High School in 1978. Aside from a brief time in Chico, he resided in Durham his entire life. Dale began working for Sunseri Construction right out of high school. He was there for most of 32 years. A master tradesman, he had a gift for cutting right to the heart of a problem and solving it quickly and efficiently, often to the amazement of others at the simplicity of his solutions. Dale had a lifelong love of horses, dancing and old Fords. He always had a project going. He'd finish one, sell it and start another. The man was always busy. He could always count on his brother-in-law, Dave to be by his side. Dale's spiritual growth began in 1991, when he began studying the Bible. He was baptized as a Jehovah's Witness in 1992. He very much enjoyed sharing spiritual truths with others, volunteering his construction skills and the special bond of spiritual brotherhood. In 1990, Dale and his son Justin asked Mari-Anne Harr to marry them. The family increased with the births of Joshua and Jesse. Dale loved his boys and they knew it. He spent precious hours working on and planning classic car projects with each of them, including many memorable trips to Hot August Nights with his friend, Carey. Dale was preceded in death by his father, Ray as well as his precious brother, Eddie. He is survived by his wife and children; his mother, Alys; brothers, Ray, Pat, Mike, Joe; and his sisters, Rita, Cecilia and Terry. A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, #10 Honey Run Rd, Chico. A reception will follow at the Masonic Family Center. Donations in his memory may be made to the Horse Arena at Durham Rec. & Park.
