Obituary of Dorothy Harris-Maroney

DOROTHY LAMARGE HARRIS MARONEY Services for LaMarge Maroney, 91 of Chico, will be held on Friday, June 15, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on the corner of Ceres and E. Lassen Ave. LaMarge passed away on June 5, 2012 at Almond Blossom Senior Care with her family by her side. She was born on March 20, 1921 in Denver, CO to William Conrad Koontz and Opal Belle Harris. LaMarge graduated from Natrona County High School in Casper, Wyoming in 1939. LaMarge was married to Forest David "Bud" Harris from 1945-1987, and Richard Allen Maroney from 1989-2005 who both preceded her in death. She was a switchboard operator, bookkeeper, worked in Civil Service, and was employed by the State Board of Equalization. Her memberships include Epsilon Alpha Sigma, and was a U.S.O. hostess. LaMarge loved to host parties, prepare food, decorate homes, work crossword puzzles, enjoy the sun, spend time with friends and family, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to read, travel, and especially enjoyed cats. LaMarge is survived by sons, David Harris of Chico, Gary R. Harris of Carmel Valley; daughter, Nancy (Warren) Nelson of Chico; 12 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. LaMarge will be laid to rest at Los Gatos Memorial Park in San Jose. Arrangements are under the direction of Brusie Funeral Home.
