Obituary of Ivan Ray

A Graveside Service will be held Friday, July 6, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Glen Oaks Memorial Park in Chico, for Ivan Ernest Ray. Mr. Ray passed away Sunday, July 1st 2012 at his home in Capay. He was 92. Born May 9, 1920 in Redding, CA to Isaac and Etta Ray, he attended schools in Fall River Mills, Burney, and Redding, CA, where he graduated High School. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1940 and was a Pearl Harbor Survivor. He married Alberta Bright in 1946. He continued to serve in the Navy until his discharge in 1950. He went to work as a machinist making parts for the Apollo Space Ship program for over 16 years. Ivan went to work for Mathews Conveyor Company here in Chico in 1965 and retired after the death of his wife in September of 1981. He is survived by his sons, Timothy, Thomas, and Russ; daughters, Elsie, Jo, Iris, and Genie; 16 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
