Obituary of Robert Slayton

ROBERT B. SLAYTON A memorial service for Robert B. Slayton will be held Tuesday, at Brusie Funeral Home at 11:00 am. Robert was born in Hemet, California to Benjamin and Florence Slayton on July 11, 1928. Robert came to Chico in 1961. He owned several taverns and retired from Poly Plastics. He donated his time at the Salvation Army working on Bibles. He also did BBQs for disabled children. He served in the army during the Korean War with an honorable discharge. He loved dancing, gardening and family most of all. He leaves behind his sisters Della Holdridge of Dixon, CA, Gwen Baker of Reedley, CA, a brother Herbert Slayton of Dinuba, CA. His daughters Kathy Steele of Coruthers, CA, Kimberly Crowley, Jamee Windsor, and adopted son John Carreras all of Chico CA, his loving companion Ruth Ferris of 15 years. He also had many grandchildren and nieces and nephews. The Eagles Aerie #218 will officiate at the service as well as the Veterans. Celebration of Life will be held at Eagles Hall at 20th and Mulberry.
