Obituary of Ruth Ferris

RUTH G. FERRIS Jan. 15, 1938- May 16, 2013 Ruth passed away on Thursday May 16, 2013 at the age of 75 years in Enloc Hospital. Ruth has gone on to join her loved ones; loving partner, Robert Slayton; mother, Marie Katherine Van Syckle; sister, Lorraine Zella Mosley; brother, Jimmy Kai; and two grandsons Joshua Michael Steele and Jared Jeffrey Steele. Above all Ruth loved her family. She is survived of four children John Bertram Carreras of Chico, Kathy Steele of Caruthers, Kimberly Crowley of Chico and Jamee Windsor of Chico. Ruth was blessed to have 11 grandchildren; Amber, Danielle, Jordan, Jason, Jonathon, Kayla, Jeffrey, Jensen, Tarra, Joseph, and Quinn. Ruth also had 4 great grandchildren; Abby, Dougie, Dallas and Jade Spencer of Caruthers. Six nieces and nephews Susan Brush, Steve Santos, Sandra Knight, William Kal, Jessie Kai arid Dorothy Kai. Ruth was born and raised in Chico and graduated from Chico High. She loved to join the local clubs including the Eagles Auxiliary 218 were she was a past Madam President. as well as a past President of The Native Daughters Hall 201/2002 of the Golden West. Ruth was an excellent cook and donated many dinners to raise money for multipliable charity organizations, as well as winning numerous first place ribbons from the Silver Dollar fair for many of her entries. Ruth was very proud and honored belong to the Mechoopda Indian Tribe and to be a member of the Mechoopda Elders group to socialize with her long time friends and family. She will be deeply missed by all who know and loved her. Viewing will be held at Brusie Funeral Home 626 Broadway Street on Thursday May 23. 2013 from 9:00 to 10:30 am and services following at 10:30.
