Obituary of Eria Quiring

ERIA "EDITH" QUIRING A graveside service will be held Friday, November 21, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Chico Cemetery for Eria "Edith" Quiring. Mrs. Quiring passed away Sunday, November 16, 2008 at a local care facility. She was 94. Born October 19, 1914 in West Warwick, RI to Verginio and Maria Furtado. As a child se worked on the family farm in the Azores and Bermuda. During WWII she worked making munitions at Remington Arms, in Lowell, Massachusetts. Then she moved to Bristol, Connecticut, where she worked for New Departures, making ball bearings. She came to Chico in 1948 and married Benjamin Quiring in 1958 here in Chico. She then went to work for Victor Industries here in Chico as a Machine Operator, retiring in 1977. Eria is survived by her son, Dennis Lindo, of Chico; step-son, Ben Quiring of Chico; step-daughters, Patricia Ragan of Paradise and Pauline Moss of Oregon; four sisters, Virgina Way, of Chico, Maryodelia Wagner of Chico, Adelina Evans of Chico and Laura Driver, of Paradise; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
