Obituary of Maria de la Luz Ortiz Mojica

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 16th, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist.  A Rosary will be said on Wednesday, December 15th at 7 p.m. at Brusie Funeral Home. 

Maria passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021.  She was born on November 7, 1976 in San Antonio Carupo, Michoacan, Mexico.  Maria immigrated to Chico from Mexico in 1993.   

Maria worked as a cook at several care homes for over 20 years. 

She is survived by her parents, Maria Mojica and Felipe Ortiz Camarena; husband Ricardo Torres, two daughters, Maria Angela Torres, Estrella Stephanie Torres, one son, Ricardo Sebastian Torres; six sisters, Naomi, Olivia, Natividad, Leticia, Esmerelda, and Gabriela Ortiz Mojica; one brother, Noel Ortiz Mojica.  Maria was preceded in death by her brother Joel Ortiz Mojica.
