Don was a man who liked to be out enjoying nature. Among the things he liked to do was hunting, fishing and panning for gold. Don spent many happy days doing these things with his brothers. As he grew into being an adult Don let Jesus into his life. While he was still young he realized his creator was even greater than His creation. Don got his first deer when he was 12 years old while his brother (me) was teaching him to hunt. It was a nice buck. He was very happy to show it off while his brother, who didn't get anything, stood nearby. He never knew just how happy his brother was. Don's faith in God made him hold fast to his walk with Jesus for the rest of his life. Now he has been promoted and is with the Lord. If he's looking down on us I would say to him, Congratulations Don, for a life well lived. Willard

I spent most of my childhood running around with Donald Jr.
Donald and Peep were like my second set of parents. I've always cherished those days! During the summer, even after a hard day at work, Donald was always happy to throw us in the truck (usually in the back on inner tubes and no seat belts! We survived! :-) )and head to a fishing hole for the evening! I'm so grateful for the outdoorsman skills that I acquired from Donald or indirectly through Don Jr. and even more greatful for other life skills that I learned by watching his examples. One day his neighbor discovered water boiling up in his planter and was clueless as to what to do. Donald, without being asked for help, took one look and said "you got a broken pipe, hang on I'll get my shovel ". We had terrible clay and cobbles but Donald spent all afternoon digging it up and fixed it without asking for anything in return. That's what neighbors did back then! I will always cherish people like that. Thank you Donald!

I have many fond memories of Uncle Donald. He took me gold panning several times, a hobby I continued into my adult life. He was a good jokester and one of my favorite memories was a prank played on him. When I was about 13 he took me and another cousin gold panning for a day. On the way home, passing through a small town we saw a pretty girl walking down the sidewalk. We two boys gave a loud whistle and then tucked down out of sight. Uncle Donald was grabbing us by the collar trying to bring us into view and we were rolling on the floor in laughter. He took it well and continued to take me gold panning. He is missed. Gary Wood
