Glenda Doughman

Obituary of Glenda Sue Doughman

Eighty four years ago on February 18, 1938, Glenda Sue Doughman (Bennett) was born into this world in Alfalfa, Oklahoma to Letha Mae Paden and Glenn Roy Bennett. She lived much of her childhood with her mother and step father Walter Lawrance Paden in the Central Valley California and graduated high school there. She met William Arlo Doughman and married him April 6, 1957 in Sanger, Ca. In 1968, they moved with their 3 children: William Arlo “Skip” Doughman, of Sweet Home, Or; Mark Gregory Doughman of Chico, Ca; and Kari Lee Cooper of Clemmons, NC to Yreka, Ca and lived in the same home until her passing. Sadly, she left this world on Sunday, January 22, 2023.

In her early years, Glenda raised her children and was involved in Beta Sigma Phi Philanthropic organization, where she met many of her life long friends. Her children’s friends thought of her as “Mom.” She loved having the house filled with family, friends and children and could make any meal stretch for whomever was around at meal time. She also volunteered a great deal for organizations like the local election board, Siskiyou County Library, and many more.

Later, she was a dispatcher for the police department, helped manage Lucy’s Clothing shop, and was administrative assistant for the law enforcement part of the Klamath National Forest Service. She loved sewing, knitting, reading, and especially genealogy. She volunteered for The Genealogical Society of Siskiyou County and spent many hours there in her own research and helping others. She called herself, “Siskiyou Tracker.” She also enjoyed her many friends and outings with the Breakfast Club of Yreka.

Glenda was a kind, humorous, generous, and loving wife, mother, friend, and colleague. She naturally wanted to help people and loved learning new things and especially loved history of all kinds, not just her family. Glenda is predeceased by her parents and husband. She is survived by her sister, Barbara June Jostrom of Marcola, Or; her three children; one Son-in-Law, Mark Russell Cooper married to Kari Cooper; one daughter-in-law, Stacy Black Doughman married to Mark Doughman; mother of four grandchildren Andrea Eileen Duch; ten grandchildren: Vernon Arlo Doughman, Misty Kendra Booth, Kiersten Mae Harper, Mark Andrew Doughman, Courtney Eileen Doughman, Kari Deeann Doughman, Jill Erin Malden, Jonathon Myles Frazer, Casey Jarvis Frazer and Cody Schuyler Frazer; and fourteen great grandchildren Daelen, Dyoni, Rebecca, Maxwell, Katelyn, Conli, Jazmine, Bryce, Bryn, Audrey, Nora, Hazel, Ellie and Skye. She will be greatly missed by many and live in our hearts and souls forever.

There will be an Open House Celebration of Her Life on Saturday, February 18, 2023 (What would have been her 85th birthday) at The Wine Bar and Bistro at 314 S Broadway St in Yreka, CA from 1-3 p.m. Anyone who knew her or her children are welcome to join. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that people make a donation in her name to a The Genealogical Society of Siskiyou County https://www.siskiyougenealogy.org/donation.php
