Obituary of Larry Kingdon Claiborne

Larry Kingdon Claiborne passed away peacefully at home January 30, 2024 after a short illness. 

Larry was born in Roseville, Ca on January 16, 1931, to Velma Stroup and Silas Claiborne. He had one Brother Kenneth, deceased.

Larry joined the Air Force in 1951 and was stationed in Quam, and then Travis Air Force Base. He was a mechanic on the B36. He even had the A bomb on his plane to drop on Korea. Ordered by President Eisenhower. In flight his plane was turned around.

Larry married Carole Milton on March 24, 1957 at St. Rose Catholic in Roseville. They had five children: Karen Rose (Steve), Steven Claiborne (Sandy), Cindy Stroing (David), Robert Claiborne (Carolyn) and Thomas Claiborne (Marlo) Tom is (deceased).

Larry was a Captain for Cal Fire for 27 years. He was stationed in Lassen and Butte counties. He lived in Chico for 50 years. Larry loved the outdoors: He loved fishing, hunting, black powder rendezvous, camping, and family.

Larry and Carole also have 16 grandchildren: Gary, Paul, Kelly, Nic, Levi, Seth, Zakry, Matt, Joseph, Scott, Justin, Brad, Michael, Trish, Wesley, and Chloe. They also have 24 Great grandchildren.

Larry belonged to Our Divine Catholic Church for 50 years. And belonged to the Knights of Columbus since 2003.

Larry was a happy soul. Everyone that knew him commented on how happy he was and his beautiful Smile.
